Spanish Influence among Filipinos: A Sociolinguistic Theory

Spanish colonialism has led to raising a significant issue of how much influence Filipino millennials have felt from it until today, particularly on our language, culture, and identity. Several research undertakings been conducted, but there was rare none that is conducted specifically for the prevalence Colonialism through linguistic perspective in Visayan Region, which becomes drive conduct this research. This paper aimed explore among college freshmen. The study used qualitative design employing interpretative phenological method investigation offer insights into informants make sense given situation. Seven (7) were purposively conveniently selected an in-depth interview elicit necessary information. data gathered interviews transcribed encoded using word document tabulate generate codes with their emerging themes. revealed seven themes are: Religious Practice Language Use; Cultural Transmission; Familiarity Language; Variation Affective Impressions; Comfortability Using Preference Learning Native Assimilation Mentality its Influences Language, Culture Identity; Confirmation influence.
